Why life isn't simple

In real organisations neither people nor issues fit neatly into boxes.

Organisational charts, strategic plans, clearly defined roles and responsibilities and performance reviews are all designed to support objectives.

But when things go wrong we are confronted with unintended consequences, assumptions no longer holding true and human nature interfering with well conceived processes.

Our personal ability to manage such situations will be influenced by resources, organisational flexibility and many underlying issues.

The issues are complex but the solution can be simple.
